St-George’s Wharf Tower, London

St George’s Wharf Tower, London
Green technology and Sauter Controls provide the best in environmental management

As the tallest residential building, and first of its kind in the UK, St George’s Tower in Vauxhall, London needed something special to control the building services and also fit in with its environmental design – hence, a Sauter Building Controls solution was installed.

At 181 metres (594 ft) and 50 storeys high, its design is considered futuristic but without gimmicks.

The building is in three distinct parts: a base that houses the communal facilities (lobby, business lounge, gym, spa and swimming pool); the mid-section containing most of the 223 apartments; and an upper section with roof terrace gardens. On top of that is a wind turbine which provides power for the common lighting in the building.

The wind turbine is not the only piece of green technology. At the base of the tower, water will be drawn from the London Aquifier and heat-pump technology will draw warmth from this during the winter to help heat the apartments.
