The SAUTER CO2 sensor: Energy efficiency and room comfort – the all-in-one solution
Bad air leads to a poor working atmosphere and inadequate performance. This is by no means a new discovery. But now there is a new solution to this problem that is simple, precise, cost-effective and efficient – thanks to SAUTER's fast and highly accurate CO2 and temperature sensor. And what's more, this is a solution that saves energy.
Effective performance requires equally effective room management. Or to put it another way: People who feel comfortable in their offices will produce better work. Air quality is one of the key indicators for a pleasant indoor climate, alongside temperature and relative humidity. Air quality is determined by the proportion of carbon dioxide (CO2). If the CO2 concentration increases, the attention levels of the people in the room are reduced – leading to fatigue, poor concentration, dissatisfaction and mistakes.
So it's essential to measure the CO2 concentration. Better air quality brings about a dramatic increase in safety, comfort and efficiency, especially in rooms with differing occupancy levels such as open-plan offices, theatre auditoriums and rooms in hospitals, hotels, educational establishments, rail stations and airports.
Benefits for people and the environment
In order to measure the CO2 concentration and to indicate when and how often ventilation is required, SAUTER has developed a sensor that can measure with very high accuracy and can be fully integrated into modern building control technology. The SAUTER CO2 sensor is suitable for all applications and for buildings of every type. It delivers high-precision measurements thanks to temperature compensation and 12-point calibration. Measurement errors due to dust and dirt in the room air or ageing of the measuring system are virtually eliminated by the dual-beam method implemented in the SAUTER EGQ222 CO2 and temperature sensor. With the single-beam system, costly ventilation of the rooms is required for four to eight hours every fortnight, merely to compensate for the sensor drift. There is no need for this with the SAUTER CO2 sensor, which ensures automatic calibration of the measurement signal at no extra cost, no matter when or how often the room is ventilated. As well as providing an atmosphere in which the room users feel comfortable, this also achieves energy savings of up to 60 percent. Faster and more precise measurements mean that control is more accurate, leading to increased energy efficiency.
Can be integrated into control technology
Thanks to its dual-beam method, this extremely fast sensor can also be integrated fully into a building's control technology. The result: SAUTER's customers benefit not only from the firm's 20 years of experience in measurement with CO2 sensors, but also from the measurement and control technology expertise that this Basle-based Swiss group of companies has accumulated over the last 100 years. As well as cutting-edge energy management and modular service packages, SAUTER also offers services that cover a building's entire life cycle. In these ways, SAUTER delivers massive reductions in operating costs, coupled with fast amortisation of installation costs and responsible use of resources.
As a leading provider of solutions for building automation technology in green buildings, SAUTER ensures good climate conditions and comfort in sustainable environments. As a specialist, SAUTER develops, produces and markets complete energy-efficient system solutions and offers a comprehensive range of services to guarantee energy-optimised building operation. Our products, solutions and services ensure high energy efficiency throughout the entire life cycle of a building, from planning and construction through to operation, in office and administrative buildings, research and educational establishments, hospitals, industrial buildings and laboratories, airports, leisure facilities, hotels and data centres.
