Definition CO2 Sensor
CO2 sensors selectively measure the concentration of CO2 in the air. They are used for the detection of indoor air quality, as CO2 is a measure of the man exhaled air. Mostly, the method is applied to the infrared spectroscopy, in which infrared light is attenuated by CO2, so that changed the received signal.
The typical measurement range of CO2 sensors is 0 to 2000 ppm (parts per million). The CO2 concentration in the room should exceed 1500 ppm do not recommended a limit of 1000 ppm. The ambient air concentration is at approximately 350 ppm.
Field trials have shown that a low CO2 content as the workplace and in schools leads to better concentration. By comparison, the MAK value (maximum workplace concentration) is 5000 ppm!
